This analysis consisted of comparisons of CDX usage and test results as follows:
1. CDX usage compared to CDX Plus Online test results
2. CDX usage compared to end of year results measured using third party tests.
CDX Usage and CDX Plus Online Test Results
Fresno City College was randomly selected from the database of CDX Plus Online subscribers for this analysis. Analysis of Fresno City College data indicates a strong relationship between the amount of time students are logged onto CDX Online courseware and their scores in the final CDX Plus Online ASE Exams in the A2, A3, A4 and A5 areas.
The following table shows the average highest score in the final ASE exams for “High Users” and “Low Users” of CDX content in each course at Fresno City College. Students were categorised as “High Users” or “Low Users” based on their position above or below the midpoint when sorted by the time spent in each CDX content area.
In summary, learners who used CDX extensively achieved better results than those who used CDX less.

CDX Usage and Third Party Test Results
The second analysis was conducted on behalf of a college, which had partially implemented CDX and required empirical evidence that CDX improves student outcomes before fully adopting CDX.
This analysis found that:
• Students who use CDX at all do better in exams, improving scores by 8% on average and high usage users of CDX do even better in exams, improving scores by 12% on average.
• Students who are high users of CDX score an average G.P.A. of 3.4, which is 34% higher than students who don’t use CDX, who score an average 2.6.
• Students who use CDX at all do better in exams, by up to 14% even if their teachers don’t use CDX in lectures.
These results demonstrate that CDX visual learning materials significantly improve learner outcomes on independent third party tests. |
