NATEF Assumption 1 “Delivers training to locate and use current reference and training materials from accepted industry publications and resources.”

NATEF Assumption 3 “Has written and detailed performance NATEF Standards for each task taught in the curriculum.”

The CDX Assessment Checklists break each task down to its component steps and allow you to review and sign off after the student has performed the task to your
satisfaction.

NATEF Assumption 3 “Learning progress of students is monitored and evaluated against these performance NATEF Standards.”

The CDX Track Application records student progress against the NATEF Task List and reports the level of proficiency and the number of P-1s, P-2s and P-3s completed by each student and class averages.

NATEF Assumption 3 “Informs all students of their individual progress through all phases of the training program.”

Self assessment activities and structured formal assessment support and document student progress. CDX Test and Track also provides printed reports for students and class information.

NATEF Standard 1 “Has clearly stated program goals, related to the needs of the students and employers served.”

Building on the Course Outline developed by the instructor and the Business and Industry Council, CDX programs help teachers focus on key NATEF tasks, and provide students with documented evidence of the completed competencies to present to potential employers.

NATEF Standard 2.1 “Rate the certificate or diploma a student receives upon program completion on clearly specifying the area(s) of demonstrated competency”.

CDX provides an editable Certificate of Completion. This, in conjunction with the reports from both CDX Track and CDX Test provide written documentation of the areas of demonstrated competency.

NATEF Standard 3 “Provides support material, consistent with both program goals and performance objectives, to staff and students.”

CDX provides extensive support materials, including:, Hundreds of Assignment Tasksheets to help develop and assess practical competence, 125+ illustrated Workshop Activity Sheets for every demonstrated procedure to guide the student in skill practice; Written Tests and Answer sheets for every learning module; CDX eTextbook – extensive text support and reference materials.

NATEF Standard 3.2 “Appropriate up-to-date multimedia materials such as…CD ROM…should be readily available and utilized in the training process.”

CDX programs utilize over 750 digital videos that are available on DVD and also for installation on PCs or Network Servers. Additionally, hundreds of activities engage student’s interest and reinforce the learning process.

NATEF Standard 3.3 “Rate the use of specialists to provide media development services for instructional staff”.

CDX assists instructors by providing comprehensive media resources and tools such as CDX Presenter to allow them to easily incorporate the CDX materials into PowerPoint slides that they develop. Additionally, CDX’s upgrade plan responds to customer feedback and develops additional, updated materials on an annual basis.

NATEF Standard 3.5 “Rate the instructional texts or pertinent material available for each student in terms of satisfying the objectives of the mode of instruction used”

CDX materials have won many national and international awards for their instructional materials, recently winning the US Automotive Training managers Council Award for best eLearning program, 2005. The free, online CDX eTextbook is quickly becoming the preferred automotive encyclopedia and research tool.

NATEF Standard 6 “Delivers instruction that is systematic and reflects program goals, with a task list and specific performance objectives with criterion-referenced measures.”

CDX programs use a proven pedagogical model based on underpinning Knowledge (Theory), Demonstration (Prac), Performance and Assessment. They include detailed task lists with performance objectives for every task and supported by structured assessment documentation and reporting.

NATEF Standard 6.6 "A record of each student's progress should be maintained through the use of a progress chart or other recording device. The record should indicate tasks required for mastery in the area and those tasks the student has mastered."

CDX Track records student progress in skills acquisition and CDX Test records student progress in the understanding of and application of automotive theory.

NATEF Standard 6.7 “All instruction should be performance based, with an acceptable performance NATEF Standard stated for each task. These NATEF Standards should be shared with students and potential employers. Students should demonstrate "hands-on competency" or "mastery" of a task before the instructor verifies a student's performance.”

NATEF Standard 6.8 “Safety instruction should be given prior to lab/shop work and be an integral part of the training program. A safety test should be included in the training program.”

CDX Test also has an Occupational Health and Safety test covering the above topics.

NATEF Standard 6.10 “Rate the degree to which the training program is organized so that appropriate work habits developed in the training program are similar to work habits required on the job.”

CDX helps an instructor meet this requirement by providing video demonstrations of professional work habits and tool usage. Additionally CDX Tasksheets direct students to reference the appropriate service manual for maintenance and repair tasks.

NATEF Standard 6.11 “Provision for Individual Differences: The training program should be structured in such a manner that students with different levels of cognitive and psychomotor skills can be accommodated.”

NATEF Standard 6.12 “Instruction in related mathematics, communication, and interpersonal relations should be provided and coordinated with ongoing instruction in the training program. This instruction should be provided by a qualified instructor.”

Mathematics and Science components are integrated throughout the programs. The CDX Communications module provides a structured and assessable learning experience for students that cover workplace relations and workplace communications. The Communications Module covers core communications skills with animations set in workshop environment, including:

NATEF Standard 6.13 “Both written and performance based tests should be used to validate student competency.”

CDX provides written tests and performance based tests. The electronic tests delivered and graded by CDX Test have nearly 4,000 questions to help teachers regularly monitor student learning, while simplifying grading. The performance tests are assessed on the Tasksheets, which align to NATEF tasks.
